Isle of Man

Located in the middle of the Irish Sea the Isle of Man is not usually selected for the climate, however there are many other attractions not least the efficient taxation system operated by the Isle of Man government.

During Victorian times, the island was a popular holiday destination, today the main draw to the island is the offshore financial centre, most major financial organisations have a representative office on the island. The island is also famed for the annual ‘TT’ motorbike road races which have been running now for over 100 years.

The island has many other tourist attractions including pleasant sandy beaches, great scenery and a wealth of ancient history to discover.

The airport has regular scheduled services from many regional UK and Irish airports including major airports (Gatwick, London City, Manchester and Dublin). The airport is modern and has an executive lounge available. The island is also served by a regular ferry services from Liverpool, Heysham and seasonal services to Ireland.

There are no buying restrictions on the island, however the Isle of Man government operate a work permit system. You will need to obtain a work permit if you wish to undertake any work (including self employment) on the island. Contact the Isle of Man government for more details.

Jersey

Jersey is located in the English Channel, the island is close to France and therefore enjoys a generally warmer climate then the UK. The island has a thriving tourist market, is an offshore financial centre and also operates an efficient taxation system.

The island is famed for beautiful beaches, historic castles, great restaurants and a ‘millionaire’ lifestyle. Jersey offers a real contrast between a vibrant financial district and the breathtaking coastline and countryside.

A short flight from London, the airport is served by many regional airports; the airport has good facilities including duty free shopping and executive lounges.

There are currently government restrictions to living on the island, if you intend to purchase a property to live in (even for short periods of the year) you must ensure you have the correct licence, further information can be obtained from the Jersey government. However, investors can purchase property designated for the rental market, again contact the Jersey government for full details.
